Evapo-Rust, a product of CRC Industries, is a powerful rust remover solution with a water-based formula that is effective and easy to use. Simply immerse the piece in the ready-to-use solution; then the rust separates from the metal surface and remains suspended in the liquid. The active ingredient in the formula adheres exclusively to the metal, removing only the rust from steel, iron, cast iron, and chrome. Therefore, it protects the unrusted metal and is harmless to other metals. Unlike traditional acidic or basic strippers, CRC Evapo-Rust is non-toxic, caustic, or corrosive, and does not damage plastic, PVC, Viton, or the paint of non-rusted treated parts.

CRC Evapo-Rust is a powerful formula that removes the thickest layers of rust down to pure metal, leaving no residual layers and without the need for sanding or blasting. The treatment is fast: it removes a light layer of rust in just 15-30 minutes, a moderate layer in 6 hours, and a thick layer in 12 – 24 hours. It works well at room temperature; however, results can be accelerated if heated to 50 °C.
